It’s 12 pm on a dreary Sunday morning, people are rushing in and out of the local coffee shop trying to get their caffeine fix so they can conquer the day. There’s a table of students, professors, freelancers, and elderly people trying to get work done. In the corner there’s a girl hellbent on finishing everything she has to do before the day is over. She knows that there’s no way she possibly can but she is still hopeful. She’s hopeful that the words will come so she can explain how she feels successfully and that her computer won’t delete everything she has worked on. That girl is me. At least two or three days a week I find the time to sit down and work on the things that I have pushed aside in favor of homework. Blogging, designing, and working on my social media channels almost always gets pushed to the back of my agenda because I feel like I need to be in the perfect mindset for it. I want to craft and create near perfect content that accurately depicts me and my purpose. With the rebranding of my blog and social media channels, I want to make sure that everything I post contains nearly the same message, happiness.
I started my journey to happiness in 2016 after realizing how unhappy and miserable I was with the way things were. I vowed to change my life and that I did. When 2016 came to an end I realized that I was truly, physically and emotionally, happy with most things in my life. For 2017 I made a promise that I would share with others my life and how I achieved happiness. In pursuance of this I find it vital to share the most important aspects of my life through writing, protesting, social media, and word of mouth. The purpose of all of this, to me, is to change the world and help other people. Even if one person is positively affected, I consider it a success.
Anyways, enough about that. I’m Shelbie, but you can call me shelb. My life story is a little complicated so I will leave most of that out and just tell you my current life situation. I’m a junior at the University of Alabama studying Geography and Political Science. One day, I will graduate but I can honestly not say when that will be since I feel like there is so much left for me to learn still. I do have a part-time job at one of my favorite companies, Earthbound Trading, that I am pretty passionate about. I do run this blog but I also freelance on the side, design, writing, photography, you name it and I can probably do it. I’m from Louisville, KY and that is proudly where I call home but I have connections to nearly everywhere in the world. My favorite things in life are iced coffee, my six cats, writing poetry, my friends, and traveling. My friends helped me to change my life and are some of the greatest people you will ever meet. In return, I try to help other people see the same thing that they helped me to see, that happiness is within reach but it takes hard work to get there. So for my friends and anyone else who has impacted me in anyway, this website is for you. I hope you see my passion and let it affect you like you affected me, because I promise, it will change your life.
